The Bat.
Austria. Vienna.
In old Vienna, they used to say that after midnight, the city belongs to those who know how to keep secrets. At one of the evening balls, a mysterious woman appeared wearing a bat mask. She introduced herself to no one and revealed nothing about herself — she simply danced as though she knew everyone in the room. When the music faded and the guests began to leave, the mysterious woman was nowhere to be found. In her place, only the mask remained. Who she was — a chance guest, an actress, or someone’s beautiful secret — no one ever discovered. The mask remained as a reminder of an evening that ended, yet was never truly explained.
